AN UNLIKELY WINNER!

The moon was shinning brightly in the dull black sky with no company by the other stars. It was a full moon night when I sat next to the window thinking about the coming week. It was my first science Olypiad where as my co-mates experienced it twice before me.
I was nervour, I brought my book in front of me which was gifted by my mom and thought of what she used to say to me when she was alive.

I was hardly eight when she passed away. Its been & years since then.
She used to brush my hair with my favorite comb before the night of my exams and calm 'n' firmly say how much I deserved. She used to pick out all my praises and list them in front of me. Her beautiful blue eyes used to give me an enchanting spark which used to stuff me up with lots of courage and confidence.
Her soft pale skin used to be warm and I used to feel very releaved when I used to hug her. It used to inspire me to do well on my exams.

Since she passed away, I have not been doing good in any of my tests, nor in my homeworks and assignments. I missed her. I closed my eyes and leaned forward to inhale the cold air blowing out of the window as my hair flew behind.

The next morning, all I thought was about my mom. I felt as if some sort of determination possessed over my nervous soul. I was confident as never before.
I reached school by 8:00 am and joined my group in the assembly hall. I saw all the participants standing with there groups in their respective corners.
I realized I was the youngest.

We were given some snacks. Then, it was finally time. My heartbeats raised, I hugged the book by my mom and sat down. The bell rang and I started to write .......
The paper seemed so easy and it seemed as my hands were working on their own. I finished it off in no time.
During all these years, I have never taken such an easy exam. Yet, I was a little tensed about my results as I've been doing extremly poor in my assignments.

After three days later I got my results. It was published in the TTIS news paper. It was written that this was an extraordinary year because we got the youngest girl as our winner of Sc. Olypiad '10, the most unlikely winner out here.

I thought of my mother as a smile broke through my lips ....
